there are loads of waterways in Hamburg (this is Hamburg) and many are connected. Surely you know the Binnen-and Aussenalster, two "lakes" in the middle of the city. Canals connect them to other waterways, and many nice quarters are directly at the canalside. A lot of places rent canoes to people, and as you can't see here, there is a lot of traffic all over the place. Many of the canoers drink, everyone has fun, some even have a bbq! Only the steering is a bit tricky... as there are big motorboats that take almost half of the canal-so not running into them can be a bit of an adventure! Sanna didn't mind, though.
